You have been taken been listening to the salesman talk for almost two hours. The music is blasting in the back ground. You are being told all kinds of fantastic stories of how others had super time or made money out of it. Your resistence is wearing down and they smell blood. You are prepared to do anything just to get out of there. Familiar? Follow the pointers below and safe yourself the torture.
1. When you receive the call saying that you have won a prize or a free trip, ask them where they got your particulars and number from. You have to be firm and insist on knowing the callers name and the company name. Ask them how you had won the prize and which competition you had entered. They will say that you were picked up randomly either based on your cell phone number or some stupid competition which never existed. This is simply a lie. They would have received your information from other time share companies or from leads they buy from brokers. Your information together with thousands of others are bought by these time share companies or time share related companies. They are passed onto the call centre operators who will start making the calls. They will pretend to be from the time share company itself but they are not. The more questions you ask of them the higher the chances of them hanging up on you. If you are not in the mood to have lengthy conversations with the person, just tell them that you are not interested.
REMEMBER: IF THERE IS SUCH THING AS A FREE GIFT, IT WILL COME WITH A COSTS WHICH WOULD MANY TIMES WORTH THE FREE GIFT.
2. If for some reason you are persuaded to attend the offices, do not be overawed by the size or the expensive renovations. It is all part of the scam. Most of all do not be taken in by the suave and well dressed sales man or the pretty sweet talking saleswoman. They are all part of the show. After the general presentation which is often called the general tour, you will targeted individually and brought in for a specific tour. This where all the bullshit is sold to you. You should insist on recording what is being said to you. Most cellphones now have the capability of recording. They will not allow you do so for sure because what they tell and what you finally get is totally different. Insist on recording and if they have nothing hide then the must allow you. If they don't then you know it is a scam. Stand up and walk out. They cannot stop you.
REMEMBER: MOST OF WHAT THEY TELL IS REALLY SALES TALK. INSIST ON TAPE RECORDING WHAT IS BEING SAID TO YOU. IF THEY ARE GENUINE THEY WILL ALLOW YOU DO SO. IF NOT JUST WALK OUT OF THE PLACE.
3. If for some reason you are swayed into signing the agreement, read what you sign after you go back home and see if what they had told you is in fact reflected in the agreement. You have a five day cooling off period. It is best that you consult a lawyer on the agreement that you signed. It is a contract and a legal document. No matter what it is better that you seek legal advice and on the implications once you are out of there. You rather pay the lawyer his consulation fee than lose thousands of dollars. Once you find that the contract does not state the things that they promise you, please go an terminate the agreement immediately and ask for a full refund. They are not to deduct anything. There is no reason for that if it is within the cooling off period.
REMEMBER: YOU HAVE 5 DAYS TO TERMINATE THE AGREEMENT. SEEK LEGAL ADVICE AS IT IS A CONTRACT. DEMAND FULL REFUND WITHOUT ANY DEDUCTIONS.
4. If you wish to terminate the agreement after the cooling of period, you might encounter some problems. You should seek legal advice immediately. In the alternative you can go Consumer Associations and lodge a complain. You should set out clearly what was told to you and what has been delivered to you. Do your due diligence on the company see if their products are real and that could also form the basis of your termination. See a lawyer and not any other companies which might entice you. They are all part of the same scam.
REMEMBER: APPROACH LAWYERS DIRECTLY OR CONSUMER ASSOCIATION. DO NOT APPROACH OTHER COMPANIES WHO PROVIDE TERMINATION SERVICES.
5. Always beware of upgrading and changing the contracts. It always more money out of your pocket with little or no benefit to you. Upgrading something which is worthless to start with, is merely throwing your money away.
BE FULLY AWARE WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. MAKE SURE THE CONTRACT STATES CLEARLY AND SPECIFICALLY WHAT YOU BOUGHT. MAKE SURE YOU SEEK LEGAL ADVICE. IT IS A CONTRACT AND THE LAW IS APPLICABLE TO IT.

ReplyDeleteSeems like you really know lots of these timeshare operations. Sometimes I kept wondering whether you were once the con salesman trying to rip the innocent off and now trying to "save" the innocent victims that you have "con/help" getting their dream holidays before in the past....
C'mon in this digital world, anybody can be anybody, satan can become an angel for all we know. But please, it's really sick to the stomach.. B'coz Ive ever came across a BLOG exactly like yours years ago, "Timeshare Scam" by I-Generic Pte Ltd, but when we went there as a friend of mine owns a Eichenhoff Timeshare and and thought they really able to assist, but found out later it's the same bunch of salesman from the same company that sold this Timeshare to my friend! So please "Timeshare Avenger", in our world today there are no "Knight in shinning armour".
Stop manupilating the innocent victims already. Get a life...
